Kentucky tint laws, in plain wordsWhat the statute says

Kentucky's tint rules are in KRS 189.110, last changed on 15 July 2024. Film on the front door windows must let at least 35% of visible light through and reflect no more than 25%. Behind the driver it can go down to 18%, or 8% on multipurpose passenger vehicles such as many SUVs and vans.

Each figure is the film's own, tested on clear glass, with a 3% tolerance either way. The windshield can take a tint strip above the AS-1 line, or a film over the whole glass that lets at least 70% of light through and isn't red or yellow. Factory glass is fine as it comes.

Window by window, what Kentucky allows

Light through is the share of light the film lets through, tested on clear glass: the lower the number, the darker the film.

Film on the front door windows may reflect no more than 25% of visible light, and behind the driver no more than 35%. A back window you can't see through needs side mirrors on both sides of the vehicle. We fit to these limits on every car and check them with you before we cut.
