Indiana tint laws, in plain wordsWhat the statute says

Indiana's tint rules are in IC 9-19-19-4. On the windshield, side wings, front door windows and back window, film and glass together must let at least 30% of visible light through, and film may reflect no more than 25%. On the windshield, film goes only on the uppermost part, above the AS-1 line.

The side windows behind the front doors aren't named, so any of our shades can go there, on cars and SUVs alike, and factory privacy glass is fine as it comes. A medical exemption needs a yearly certificate from an Indiana-licensed physician or optometrist, kept in the vehicle.

Window by window, what Indiana allows

Light through is the share of light the film and the glass let through together: the lower the number, the darker the glass.

On the windshield, side wings, front door windows and back window, film may reflect no more than 25% of visible light, and Union Carbon IR and Ceramic IR are made for a deep, even look rather than a mirror. We fit to these limits on every car and check them with you before we cut.

  • The side windows in the front doors need to let at least 30% of visible light through, counting the film and the glass together, and the film can reflect no more than 25%. That means one of the lighter shades in Union's range, checked on your own glass before we fit it.
